I should probably just take a screenshot of it the next time I have an opportunity. No need for a stable hotkey if I'm playing Aztecs. If I ever settled on a race I'd customize the key-presses for them more. The trick to layered hotkeys in my opinion is to never press Alt+i ii or Alt+u uu. f sets rally point, spacebar sends me to "recent event", I use the scroll wheel and mouse 3 for something as well.
Pressing shift+button will queue up 5 of that unit. In a game I might do something like : m5 gg (2 villagers) m4 gu (build house) m4 gi (farm) m4 go (Lumber) alt u ii (2 spears) alt i uu (2 archers) alt i oo (2 skirms). Mouse 5? (the one closer to the front) is town center mouse 4? (the one closer to the palm) is idle villager. Guio Alt is my homerow (your mileage may vary, hiop might be better for some people) - Ctrl still makes control groups - yphjkl / are also used. The biggest reason for this is that I can then use my thumb for spacebar + alt + ctrl + shift + / and free up my pinky for more keys as well without really going out of my way to reach. I get really into messing with hotkeys for games and I change them a lot until I like them.Ĭurrently I do kinda the same thing as the image you linked, but I use the Right side of the keyboard with Alt for games that use mouse movement (if I wasn't so used to my current FPS keys I'd probably move to ijkl). R is always interact, T is reload, I spend lots of time in source games making my bind setups as easy and relevant as possible. In FPS one of the first things I do is switch to esdf rather than wasd to open up the qaz keys for extra use.
I don't play a lot of AoE2, so I don't know how much people agree with what I do, but hotkeys are an important thing for me in games.
